Join our team and work on the bleeding edge of High Performance Computing!
You could be part of a company that provides the tools which scientists in Academia and Industry are using to further human knowledge and make exciting discoveries every day.
At ClusterVision it’s not just about delivering HPC clusters, it’s also about how they are deployed and administered through TrinityX: our open source HPC cluster eco-system designed to make our clusters agile, reliable, and responsive to our customers’ individual needs.
With headquarters in the Netherlands and extensive coverage across Europe and the Middle-East, our team is made up of knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and professional people. Also, all of our team members are passionate about HPC/Cluster technology and dedicated to the customers who rely on our solutions. Through our work in HPC, we aim to accelerate scientific discovery.
As our company is growing, we are looking for an eager Linux Project Engineer with excellent technical skills. This position involves installing, configuring and testing of our clusters, as well as some technical escalation support. To succeed in this role you need to analyse the technical issues first and solve them in a very pragmatic way. You are able to work alongside our customers and deploy our solutions. You will also provide training in order to support and educate our customers. You will work with the latest hardware and software technologies such as cutting edge massive storage platforms, high speed network interconnects as InfiniBand, Omni-Path and 10GbE as well as modern High Performance Computing software.
There will be ample opportunity to develop your skills and professional growth.
Required and Desirable Skills
Most supercomputing cluster operating systems and software environments are based on Linux and your tasks involve a reasonable amount of Linux troubleshooting, tuning and tweaking. You should be very familiar with the GNU/Linux Operating System at system administration level. The ability to script in Perl/Bash/Python and knowledge about high performance and high availability clustering would be seen as advantageous, but not strictly necessary. You are expected to be familiar with various Linux distributions and generic Unix services.
Parallel Programming and Scientific Computing
Most of our Linux supercomputer clusters are used for scientific high performance computing applications and many of our customers are scientists. Some prior experience with parallel programming (MPI) and an affinity with scientific computing would be seen as advantageous, but not strictly necessary. Knowledge of technologies like SGE, PBS, SLURM, LDAP, NFS, PXE, pacemakes and corosync, Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS, Nagios/Ganglia/Icinga/Zabbix is seen as advantageous, but is also not strictly necessary.
Customer Facing Skills
You will spend quite some time at customer sites and some of your tasks will include providing administrator and user training to customers. You will also be communicating with customers in person, on the phone and through email.
You will frequently travel within the Benelux, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Southern Europe for HPC cluster installations, training and customer support. Therefore, fluency in English is important. Fluency in another European language would be beneficial.
ClusterVision is a young and rapidly growing company. We require people who are not only very skilled, but who are also flexible, reliable, can take initiative, can deal with responsibility, and have a “can do” mentality.
